Our world is like a Kaleidoscope. The glass pieces within the Kaleidoscope represent the people, while the patterns formed by the pieces reflect the communities that we are all a part of.
In our daily lives, we play different roles from being employees in a company to students in a university or from being volunteers in a social organization to citizens of a country or maybe just being members of a family unit. Wherever we are, we are always a part of a larger unit playing some type of role.
When the Kaleidoscope is shaken, the old glass patterns are dispersed and new patterns are formed. By the same token, we also live through continuous changes. We often move out of old groups or places and locations or even activities to be a part of a new ensemble. Thereby, our roles may also change. If the Kaleidoscope is shaken again, the same glass pieces may align themselves together almost the same way if not exactly, just as they once did. In our day-to-day lives after meeting different people, we may encounter someone we once knew but in a different point in time. Change fuels us with new and different elements..
If we reflect briefly on our past, we would soon realize that we are stronger because of those changes. We may have studied at a number of institutions, schools or colleges and worked in different companies. We may have switched careers on several occasions or changed homes or traveled from place to place or even moved across countries and continents to be a part of a different culture. Regardless of the reason, we adapted to these changes. By embracing change, we are in fact helping ourselves adapt to new elements.
Variety is a spice of life and change is one of its most important ingredients. Change, although stressful, is key to our personal development and growth. It affects each and every one of us, through our voluntary action (our acceptance of change) or through other means (change forced upon us) either knowingly or unknowingly due to our personal circumstances or through our external environment. In fact, it is change that keeps us busy instead of our minds idling away.
Our life is full of changes and variety just like the colors and patterns of a Kaleidoscope. Similarly, our world is like one huge kaleidoscope with people moving from place to place. Had it not been for the changing patterns of a Kaleidoscope then we would not have been able to appreciate it to the fullest. Similarly, had it not been for the constant changes happening in our lives, we would not have been able to achieve our life’s objectives to the maximum. One thing that everyone should remember is that whatever the circumstance maybe, it is very important to live in peace and harmony with people around us. After all, even after the Kaleidoscope is shaken several times, it is never possible for it to take the same pattern piece by piece as it did before!
